When someone walks into your home, the first thing they will notice is the décor. The colour of the walls can make a room look huge and airy, or dull and dingy. The carpet can draw the eye, or confuse it.

On plain carpets, the last thing you want is a large stain, or discolouration from wear and heavy traffic. Sadly, this kind of damage causes many homeowners to throw carpets away. But there is another way. Even the dirtiest, baked-in carpet grime can be removed by a professional cleaner, if they’re armed with the right tools and products.

Pro vs Amateur Carpet Cleaing

When hiring a professional to clean your carpets, check the equipment they’re using. Carpet cleaning machines come in many shapes and sizes, and they are certainly not all equal.

At the bottom of the scale, there are domestic carpet cleaners, like the Numatic George and the various Vax uprights. These cleaners will do a great job of cleaning a carpet stain right after a spill, while the mark is still fresh and wet. For ground in dirt, they are not so effective.

Professionals should be armed with something far more powerful, like one of the huge cleaners from the Prochem Steempro range, or a Numatic CleanTec machine. These are much bigger machines, and are much more powerful, allowing our cleaning staff to clean deep into the carpet fibres.

Potential Results for your carpet

Many domestic customers don’t realise that carpet cleaning can save a carpet from landfill. Sometimes, they come to us as a last resort option: the next stop is the local carpet supplier. Believe it or not, carpet cleaning really can bring a carpet back to new condition, and it could be a great investment in the overall look of your home.

We’re used to cleaning carpets that have been drawn on by toddlers, or shampooing away the little accidents that your puppy left behind. From red wine to ketchup, mud to blood and everything in-between, we can potentially get rid of it.

Results are never guaranteed with carpet cleaning, but we use a variety of chemicals and detergents to give us the best chance of dealing with the stain. If you’re thinking of changing the carpet, let us at least try cleaning it first. You might be amazed by what our carpet cleaning products can do.

Aftercare

A clean carpet is a gorgeous, flawless carpet – we want to help you keep it that way. While our machines don’t leave carpets wet, you will detect a slight dampness underfoot, so the first 24 hours are essential.

If possible, leave all of your windows open so the carpet can dry; it’s a good idea to run a dehumidifier, if you have one. If we’ve cleaned your sofas, don’t allow anyone to sit on them for at least 24 hours. That includes the dog.

Prevent new stains by using rugs in busy areas, and try to clean up mess as soon as it hits the floor. The faster you deal with carpet dirt, the less chance there is you’ll need a repeat visit from our carpet cleaning machine.
